Welfare Considerations of Tethering

Tethering can be defined as securing an animal by an appropriately attached chain or rope, to a secure point or anchorage, causing it to be confined to a desired area. This leaflet considers the welfare considerations of tethering outside for nature conservation purposes, not housed tethering.

Impact of 2001 Foot and Mouth Outbreak on Local Grazing Schemes

A summary of the main findings from a questionnaire survey designed by the Grazing Animals Project (GAP) to determine the impacts of foot and mouth disease (FMD) on conservation grazing schemes. The report complements English Nature’s interim assessment of the effects of FMD (Robertson et al., 2001) which dealt only with England and concentrated on a series of case studies
