Flora Locale and GAP Workshops

The Flora locale training programme is created for people involved in the design, management and restoration of landscapes for biodiversity, whether on a farm, smallholding, new urban development, village green, city park or school grounds.  This year GAP and Flora Locale are running several workshops including ponies & wildlife rich habitats, grazing with carbon & wildlife in mind and pigs & land management.  To read more about GAP and Flora locale workshops please download the information sheet below. Livestock Checkers and Practical Introduction to Extensive Grazing Courses 

Please note: we are re-organising the delivery of these courses at present so there will be a break in the course programme with new courses currently being planned for early Spring 2010. The Livestock Checkers courses will start running from March 2010.  

GAP is an approved training provider and has developed two national stock husbandry training courses.  The courses are Lantra-accredited and aim to provide a basic introduction to livestock for extensive/conservation grazing. They are delivered on a regional basis around the country and to date we have run around 30 courses at locations from the Isles of Scilly to Stirling.

There are two courses:

1. A one day Livestock Checkers course designed to provide basic training for volunteer stock checkers. For further information on this course please click here
2. A two day Practical Introduction to Extensive Grazing course aimed at increasing awareness of the behaviour and husbandry of grazing animals in extensive/conservation grazing including everything from paperwork and legal requirements to a practical handling session.
