Heritage Lottery Grant for grazing skills training
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded a grant of £260,121 under its Skills for the Future programme to the Grazing Advice Partnership to set up and run a three-year nationwide programme of traineeship placements. During this second year ten 9 month traineeships are available
The aim will be to offer trainees a mix of ‘on the job’ work experience and instruction in the practical skills associated with livestock handling and conservation grazing.
Trainees will receive a bursary, mentoring support and access to GAP training courses. A two day induction course will be provided for each trainee as well as a set of protective clothing.
The first placements have been arranged with a range of leading traditional livestock farms and conservation grazing schemes and started in the Spring 2011. Applications for the 2012 placements due to commence spring 2012 are welcomed from 22 December 2011.
